It was just last Saturday when Ripe won the finals of the "Boston Breakout Sessions" live on 88-9 WERS at this year's Outside the Box Festival. Here's the happy group with a very large check!!
And, this coming Monday July 27th, their sophomore EP "Hey, Hello" will be released and available everywhere. Until then, 88-9 WERS is the only place to hear their new work! You can also see them live at a free show this Saturday July 25th in the Red Room at Cafe 939.
For the new EP, Ripe collaborated with LA producer Michael Miller and renowned New York engineer Dave Darlington in their first cross-country production process. Miller is best know as Music Director for the television show "Solid Gold" for it's entire 8-season run, working with greats like Frank Sinatra and Joe Cocker. Mix engineer Dave Darlington has won numerous Grammys for his work with artists like Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis! The album sees a complete reworking of Ripe's dance-friendly funk sound, adding heavier grooves and more elaborate interplay between the band members.
