Who We Are
88.9 WERS is Boston’s Uncommon Radio.
What the heck does that mean? Let us explain:
- First and foremost, we’re music fans. We’re all about music discovery and rediscovery.
- Broadcasting from Emerson College, we’re an independent, professionally managed, and student staffed public radio station, the first non-commercial radio station in New England, in operation since November 1949.
- We’re commercial-free: Our support comes from listeners and local underwriting partners who share our passion for musical diversity, the local music scene, and Boston’s vibrant culture.
WHAT WE PLAY
- An eclectic mix of new and classic alternative, indie, rock, Americana, and local artists.
- Songs you know, deep cuts from your favorite albums, throwbacks, live tracks, and new stuff carefully curated by our student and professional music geeks.
PLUS unique, locally produced specialty programs:
- All New From 8-9: A nightly hour of new music
