Environmental activists, actors and students will be performing in the fun skit and will also be handing out Valentine’s to the representatives’ to “break up with fossil fuels”.
The State of Divestment Organizer for the Better Future Project and actor in the upcoming skit, Eli Gerzon had more to say about that. “What the valentines do is it shows that people all over the state of Massachusetts want us to divest from fossil fuels, this is an industry that is throwing away our future as Senator Downing said you can make arguments for why it might be difficult to divest but you can’t make an argument why in the world we would be invested in something that’s destroying our future.”
This event is the ‘primer’ of the events according to Gerzon. There will be a bigger event in front of the Statehouse on February 26th that is their lobbying day where they will get hundreds of people to come and show support on divesting fossil fuels in hopes of getting representatives to side with them.
