Concert Watch: December 5 – 7

Ryan MontbleauHope you enjoyed filling up on turkey and stuffing last week. Now that Thanksgiving’s out of the way everyone’s getting into the holiday spirit, including the music lovers here at WERS and out there in Boston!

Thursday, December 5 – MGMT @ Orpheum Theatre

Five years after their debut Oracular Spectacular, featuring infectious gold and platinum hits like “Time To Pretend” and “Kids,” MGMT are still going strong. The band just released their self-titled third album in September, and will be sharing beloved songs old and new with fans at the Orpheum Theatre tomorrow night.

Thursday, December 5 – Lucius w/ You Won’t @ The Sinclair

The new Brooklyn-based Lucius just released their debut album this year and are slowly but surely making a name for themselves. The mesmerizing combined lead vocals of frontwomen Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, and the band’s symmetrical stage set-up, are unlike any other. But don’t take my word for it. You can see for yourself when they play at the Sinclair with Boston’s own You Won’t tomorrow.

Friday, December 6 and Saturday December 7 – Ryan Montbleau Band @ Paradise Rock Club

Speaking of great local acts, the Ryan Montbleau Band will be playing a very special two-night set at the Paradise Rock Club this weekend. These shows will feature the last performances of the band’s current line-up after 10 full years on the road together, so there’s little doubt that they’ll go out with a bang.
