Do you watch American Horror Story? Do you religiously listen to Stevie Nicks and own every album she’s ever recorded? (No? Just me? Okay.) Well regardless, Stevie Nicks fans rejoice, for she will be appearing on the third season of American Horror Story: Coven.
This past Tuesday, co-creator of the show, Ryan Murphy, tweeted “Guess who’s visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!” Ryan Murphy got to know Stevie Nicks when Glee had their Fleetwood Mac tribute episode, and the two have apparently been in cahoots recently regarding the American Horror Story merger. Her appearance on the show has been confirmed by representatives at Fox, but so far no other details have been released.
Nicks’ appearance would be all too appropriate this season, for one of the characters, Misty Day, has an obsession with Stevie Nicks and thinks that she is her only friend although they have never met. There is a scene in which Misty is in a room with two of her cohorts and Fleetwood Mac’s Rhiannon comes on the radio. Misty goes on a rant about Fleetwood Mac and how Stevie Nicks is the “white witch” and that she’s the first witch she ever knew (she knows more now seeing as this whole season of American Horror Story is about witches). She further goes on to say that Rhiannon was Stevie’s anthem, and that it “penetrates her soul, telling the truth about everything she’s ever known in her whole life.” This is just one of the many examples in the show of Misty’s love for Stevie.
When she already has so much prominence on the show, why not get Stevie herself to cameo? Ryan Murphy asked the same question, and now the magic is going to happen. Will Stevie be playing herself? Will she be playing the “white witch” that Misty named her? A completely random character? We will all just have to keep watching for the goddess of rock and her potentially crossing paths with one of her biggest fans. Not to mention, maybe an impromptu song or two?
