Arcade Fire Announce 2014 Arena Tour

Arcade FireArcade Fire has officially decided to back up their number one album with an arena tour in the spring and summer of 2014.

The band announced 28 concerts taking place throughout North America next year, starting in Louisville, Kentucky in early March and ending in their hometown of Montreal on August 30. The tour includes a stop at the Comcast Center in Mansfield on August 19.

The tour will be in support of Reflektor, the band’s fourth studio album. Released on October 28, it sold 140,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album’s first single, also titled “Reflektor,” was released in early September.

Arcade Fire have never had such a high profile. They were the musical guests for the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, performing “Reflektor” as well as another song from the new album, “Afterlife.” Following SNL the band was featured in a half-hour concert special titled Here Comes The Night Time. The special featured more new songs, as well as guest appearances from celebrities such as James Franco, Bono, and Ben Stiller.

The six-member Canadian indie band released three critically acclaimed albums before Reflektor. Their 2004 debut Funeral was nominated for a Grammy Award while their 2007 follow-up, Neon Bible, debuted at number two and sold almost 100,000 copies. 2010 saw the best success yet for the band, with The Suburbs debuting at number one and winning the Grammy for Album of the Year.

Arcade Fire will likely gain more attention when the Spike Jonze film Her, which the band provided music for, is released on December 18.
