The annual Lollapalooza festival is headed back to South America in a new way next year, as former Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is bringing his alternative festival extravaganza to Argentina for the first time ever. The festival will also make visits to Chile and Brazil. The fourth Chilean edition will take place in Santiago on March 29th and 30th, 2014 with more than 60 acts featured. Most notably, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Pixies, Arcade Fire, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, and Imagine Dragons will be on the bill, with many others.
Farrell said in a statement on the festival website, “Our perennial trip through South America has become one of the most anticipated times of the year for my family and our extended family (of musicians). I have also been inviting every delightful new acquaintance to join us. They will find it to be an epic journey as well.”
The debut of Lollapalooza Argentina will happen on April 1st and 2nd in Buenos Aires, with the Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails and Pixies leading the lineup of more than 50 artists.
The bill for Lollapalooza Brazil will be announced this Monday (November 11th), with the festival set for April 5th and 6th in Sao Paulo.
The U.S. version of Lollapalooza will return to Chicago’s Grant Park next summer on August 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This will be the 16th festival in 23 years.
