Concert Watch: Oct. 16 – 19

Mike-DoughtyGood morning, concertgoers! Live Music Week is fast approaching as the festivities begin this Saturday, October 19th. Now let’s take a look at some of the live happenings leading up to it.

Wednesday, October 16 – Pearl Jam @DCU Center

The one and only Pearl Jam continue their almighty reign! They were an essential figure in launching the grunge movement over twenty years ago and have consistently released remarkable music and put on incredible live shows ever since. Yesterday Pearl Jam released their tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, with a show at the DCU Center, and they’ll be back for a second show there tonight!

Friday, October 18 – Cold War Kids @ House of Blues

Cold War Kids already stopped by the Paradise Rock Club earlier this year, but they’re coming back for more with a show at the House of Blues this Friday. It’ll be a special treat for fans who weren’t able to catch them the first time around, especially since this is the Kids’ first year touring with their new guitarist Dann Gallucci (formerly of Modest Mouse). Wonder how they’ll shake things up this time around?

Saturday, October 19 – Mike Doughty @ Paradise Rock Club

Soul Coughing frontman and founder Mike Doughty has shown that he can stand just as tall on his own two feet. He made a name for himself with solid tracks like “27 Jennifers” and “Na Na Nothing,” and he recently scored his highest charting solo album to date with a successfully crowd-funded album of “re-imagined” Soul Coughing songs titled Circles, Super Bon Bon. Fans will get to hear how these songs sound through the mind of Soul Coughing’s mastermind when Doughty plays at the Paradise Rock Club this Saturday.

Plenty more live performances are on the way for Live Music Week, so keep listening to 88.9 WERS.
