Best Coast Drops New Mini Album

Best Coast Live at RoyaleIt may be getting chillier here in Boston, but Best Coast’s new mini-album, Fade Away, is getting ready to take you back to warmer weather. Although its official release date is October 22nd, Fade Away is now streaming in full one week ahead — and it’s sure to make you play it loud and proud.

LA-based duo Best Coast (comprised of frontwoman Bethany Cosentino and secret weapon Bobb Bruno) has shaken things up with an in-between release that challenges the conforms of the full album and the EP. The seven catchy songs won’t disappoint, as their two-part formula made up of fuzzy garage rock and 60s-flavored girly-pop sounds returns with an overall grace of simplicity — and it’s a formula that works. According to press releases, Fade Away is said to have a “faster-paced, energetic set of songs inspired by Mazzy Star, Patsy Cline, My Bloody Valentine, and Ambien.”

Cosentino adds in a statement: “Everything in this band has worked out so organically that sometimes it scares me that something bad is going to happen. I don’t even understand why this is happening. I made some songs, I put them up on the internet, and here I am now. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. If I wasn’t doing this, I don’t know what I would be doing.”

Fade Away makes its debut by way of Cosentino’s new Jewel City label, and pre-orders for the album are ongoing. The band plans to follow up its release with a new, full-length adventure next year.
