Cage The Elephant To Release New Album

Cage The ElephantCage The Elephant’s new album Melophobia is set for release on Tuesday, October 8th. Best known for their song “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” the Kentucky band took time off after nearly five years of nonstop touring to create the new album. Melophobia includes ten tracks and will be released via RCA Records.

The title of the album may seem ironic — “melophobia” literally means the fear of music. Cage The Elephant have stated that during the formation of the album, the band members averted from listening to any recorded music. They did so in order to avoid outside influences and reflect more on their own personal style and sound. Each track on Melophobia keeps listeners guessing; “Spiderhead” makes use of piano keys and hand clapping, “It’s Just Forever” features Alison Mosshart of The Kills, and “Hypocrite” includes a whole horn section. Well known for their crazy live performances replete with stage dives and jumps from balconies, fans know by now to expect the unexpected when it comes to Cage The Elephant.

The album is currently streaming online and can be heard here. Be sure to check out the tracklisting below and pick up Melophobia on October 8th.
