Artist of the Week: Atlas Genius

Atlas-GeniusThis week, WERS’s Artist of the Week is South Australian band Atlas Genius, who will be playing at the House of Blues in Boston tomorrow!

Like many great bands, Atlas Genius came from very humble beginnings– they started out as a three-piece covers band in Adelaide back in 2009, and began to write original material when they began to build their own home studio and take up a residence in their neighborhood, renamed the band after member Michael had a dream where a character shouted “Atlas Genius!”, ad began to record original material. The three founding members are brothers Keith, Michael, and Steven Jeffrey and have kept it in the family through today, and released their first self-recorded single “Trojans” in 2011 online and it grew to become one of the most popular tracks in the country that year and soon spread to the satellite radio waves.

From there, the rest is history– the group was signed to Warner Bros. for their first EP in 2012 and through their first full-length albumĀ When It Was Now and follow-up single “If So”, and the band has been touring in support of the release ever since. They deliver a killer live show, and will be at the House of Blues in Boston tomorrow, October 8th. We’re proud to have Atlas Genius as WERS’s Artist of the Week!
