Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic will be performing on one track of the forthcoming Modest Mouse album. Novoselic revealed that the new album will feature a much edgier sound than any of the band’s previous work. Novoselic has reportedly been collaborating with the band since as early as last summer.
The release of Modest Mouse’s sixth studio effort is welcome news to their fans, considering this will be the band’s first full length release since 2007’s We Were Dead Before Before the Ship Even Sank. There was a small break in the band’s extended silence in 2009 with the release of the EP No One’s First and You’re Next. The band announced a bittersweet cancellation of their summer 2013 European and UK tour in order to continue work on their new album.
Earlier this year, Modest Mouse began performing new material at various live performances, giving fans something to hold them over until the album release. No additional information or official release date has been set for the album, but the band has revealed that they are hoping for a 2014 release.
