Tom Waits to Perform at Benefit

Tom WaitsAnother huge name has been added to the already stellar lineup for this year’s installment of Neil Young’s infamous all-acoustic Bridge School Benefit. Tom Waits has recently announced that he will perform at the event with Les Claypool (of Primus) on bass, Dave Hidalgo (of Los Lobos) on guitar, and Waits’ son Casey on drums making up a dream team band. Though Waits has no plans to tour, he said of his choice to perform at the October 26-27th show “I had every good intention to stay home and work on my JD Salinger Halloween mask, but when Neil told me yesterday he was serving burnt cow’s eyes on a flat tire and it’s all gluten free, I invited myself!” What a perfectly clear explanation, straight from the mind of Tom Waits.

For those of you only know the music side of the event, The Bridge School is a foundation created by Neil Young and his wife to help “individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies.” Check out more about the event here.
