Artist of the Week: Grouplove

GrouploveThis week we’re featuring GROUPLOVE as our Artist of the Week in celebration of their new album, Spreading Rumours!

The origin story of Los Angeles-based indie band Grouplove is a hippie with a guitar’s dream– two crazy kids meet in Manhattan, develop a sound and discover three additional members during an artist’s residency in Crete, and become of the biggest on-the-rise bands in the space of a year. Intimidated yet? Grouplove has been one to watch since the very beginning, releasing their self-titled EP in 2011 to a lot of success and spending their first two years as a band touring radio stations (WERS included back in 2010), small clubs, and the festival circuit. The single “Tongue Tied” carried them to new heights and into the commercial world as they released full album Never Trust A Happy Song and continued to build a formidable fanbase while on tour with Two Door Cinema Club.

Fast forward past a number of successful concert dates, songs featured in commercials, and more critical acclaim and summer vibes than one can shake a stick at, their new album Spreading Rumours is already taking off with single “Ways to Go” building on the sound cultivated overseas. With dates in Boston this past weekend and a huge career ahead, we’re thrilled to have Grouplove as our artist of the week!
