Stream The Replacements Live

The ReplacementsThe pioneers of alternative rock, The Replacements, are back. The ‘Mats played their first show in 22 years this past weekend at Riot Fest in Toronto and performed a career spanning, 23 song long set. Paul Westerberg apologized for “taking so long” to play live again and jokingly blamed it on an unresolved wardrobe dispute.

It’s the bands first show since their 1991 performance at Grant Park in Chicago, where the band will return to on September 15th for the second of three Riot Fest dates. Original members, Westerberg and Tommy Stinson were joined by Josh Freese on drums and David Minehan on guitar.
You can stream the entire set here or download it via the Replacements Live Archive Project here.

There are fan-captured videos all over YouTube and surely there will be more to come after the September 15th and 21st shows at Chicago and Denver, respectively. There are a few false starts and forgotten lyrics (“I Will Dare”), but that all adds to the show’s rock and roll vibe and makes the performance more human.
