Producer Spotlight: Just Blaze

Known to you as Just Blaze, hip-hop guru Justin Smith can be looked at as one of the top producers in the game. Starting off as a DJ then producer and then Entrepreneur, he’s accomplished working with the hottest artists in the hip-hop and R&B world. He’s worked with artist such as Kendrick Lamar, TI, Usher, Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Kanye, Snoop Dog, Talib Kweli, DMX, and more.

Those who bow down to HOV’S thrown need to know that Just Blaze produced all those hits that lead Jay-Z to the thrown. He’s accomplished producing The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, the 20th highest-selling R&B/Hip-Hop album of the 2000-2010 decade. He also produced for Jay-Z’s Blueprint 2 and The Black Album, and landed a gig as the in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella Records. After Roc-A-Fella records he skyrocketed. When Jay-Z decided to retire in 2003 for the first time, Just Blaze began working on his own label Fort Knocks Entertainment which is yet another accomplishment.

After the production of Camron’s single “Oh Boy” in 2002, Just Blaze reached international fame. He continued on to produce for many of your favorite MCs and even accomplished producing a track on the Grammy Award winning album Recovery, for chart topping rapper Eminem. But that’s not it! All the Rihanna Navy and TI fans who want to live their life because of their hit “Live Your Life,” need to give thanks to Just Blaze for creating the platform for that hit to be a hit! That’s right, I said it because Just Blaze was the mastermind behind that record.

One of his newest accomplishments is his current position as host of the hit BET reality show, Master of the Mix. Master of the mix gathers top notch DJs from across America to determine who’s number one. From DJ to Entrepreneur, we all have a reason to be thankful for Just Blaze because all the songs we like to chill out to or dance to that we rated number on on the charts was because his blazing hot producing skills.
