ALELA DIANE, ABOUT FAREWELL
About Farewell is the fifth album from Portland-based singer and songwriter Alela Diane. This album is more stripped down than her previous album, Alela Diane & Wild Divine, which was recorded with a backing band that included her now ex-husband, Tom Bevitori. About Farewell is a break up album for Diane and she is able to pull it off by expressing emotional lyrics over light musical arrangements.
BUDDY GUY, RHYTHM & BLUES
Now 52 years into his career, legendary blues guitarist and singer Buddy Guy releases Rhythm & Blues to mark his 77th birthday. The album is a two disc set consisting of 21 songs in total, and all but three are originals. Produced by collaborator/drummer Tom Hambridge, the two brought in many artists for guest appearances on Rhythm & Blues. The likes of Kid Rock, Gary Clark Jr., Keith Urban, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry all are featured artists on Guy’s 28th studio album.
MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD, ALL PEOPLE
This is the eight studio album from one of the most socially active artists in music: Michael Franti & Spearhead. It has been two years since Franti & Spearhead have released a single, the last one being “Hey Hey Hey” in 2011, but this year we were introduced to the upbeat and rhythmic single “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like).” Franti says that, “All People is about the beauty of diversity, being your authentic self in a crazy world and the infinite power of love.”
