Glasgow-rockers Franz Ferdinand have captured the hearts of indie fans all over the world since 2004’s self-titled debut LP. Between that and the two CDs that followed, with hits such as “Take Me Out,” “Do You Want To,” and “No You Girls,” Franz Ferdinand have established themselves as bonafide indie rock stars. It’s been four years since their last CD, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, but it has been announced that their fourth LP will be out by the end of the summer.
Slated to be released on August 27th in the US (and a day earlier in the UK), Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action is the title of the band’s highly anticipated record. The album was announced several months back, but the band has only just recently released the video for the new single, “Right Action.” The video is similar to the band’s earlier video aesthetic as it was directed by Jonas Odell, who has worked with the band on previous videos, including the much-loved “Take Me Out.”
The new single is beyond addictive in classic Franz Ferdinand style, groovy and poppy, relying heavily on the hook. The accompanying video is a bright, colorful, and most of all, fun little piece to watch; it’s refreshing to see that, even after all the success and critical acclaim, the boys of Franz Ferdinand still don’t take themselves too seriously and are willing to goof around and have fun.
The video for “Right Action” is available for viewing pleasure here.
