Concert Watch: July 18th–19th

Adam EzraGreetings, concert lovers! Feel that heavy air seeping through your windows on the morning commute? There’s a cure for that, and it’s called live music, not whining to your co-workers until you’re banned from the communal kitchen. Got that? No whining, just shows. And, to boot, a few of them are free!

Tomorrow, July 18th – David Wax Museum at Outside The Box Festival City Hall Plaza: Main Stage

Declared the best in Boston several times over, David Wax Museum will be playing the all-free, all-inclusive Outside the Box Festival’s largest stage later in the evening on Thursday. Primary members David Wax and Sue Slezak have made a name for themselves fusing traditional Mexican son music with Boston folk roots, and easily claim the title of “Most Likely to Get You Dancing.”

Tomorrow, July 18th - The English Beat @ The Center of the Arts in Natick

The Beat, The English Beat, The British Beat—whatever you call them, they were at the heart of the two-tone ska revival of the 1980’s, and their sound and performance still holds up after over thirty years of music. Frontman Dave Wakeling has a voice and the band has rhythm like you wouldn’t believe, so catch the Beat while they’re still playing stateside.

Friday, July 19th – Adam Ezra Group @ Outside The Box Festival City Hall Plaza: Main Stage

Another main attraction of the Boston scene, the Adam Ezra Group are playing a free show at the Outside the Box Festival Mainstage to celebrate album Ragtop Angel and their long-standing reputation as one of the best in New England. Ezra and friends have become famous not only for their chilled-out folk-pop tracks, but also for innovative album selling—they were early adopters to the “pay what you can” model, and have had great success with it.

There you have it—the New England Festival season is upon us, so grab your sunblock and make your shortlist, because it’s going to be great…and yeah, kind of hot. See you next week!
