The Smashing Pumpkins have been a staple in alternative music since the release of their second album in 1993, Siamese Dream. Since the breakout success of that record, the Smashing Pumpkins have remained consistent in churning out solid release after solid release. Their latest album, their ninth studio LP, 2012’s Oceania, was met with acclaim from critics and fans alike—so much so that the Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they are releasing a new live package called Oceania: Live in NYC, due out September 3rd.
The package will feature the band’s December 2012 performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn: a show that was originally supposed to be played in Halloween but then was rescheduled due to Hurricane Sandy.
It was a stellar gig for the Smashing Pumpkins– an acclaimed show where the band played Oceania in its entirety, and then playing through a lengthy catalogue of Smashing Pumpkins classics. The show also included elaborate lighting and visual effects that were produced by Sean Evans, the same lighting director/stage producer who assisted Roger Waters on The Wall.
Along with the Smashing Pumpkin’s visually stunning performance, the set will also include interviews with Evans, 5.1 stereo audio, and a photo gallery from that night’s event. Fans will be able to choose from a variety of formats, including a standard DVD, a 3D Blu-Ray DVD, and a deluxe version that will include a 2CD/DVD set and a digital copy.
