New Releases Tuesday: July 9th

Preservation Hall Jazz BandWelcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS. Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.

BECK, I Won’t Be Long

Earlier this week, Beck released a brand new single and today it will be available for digital download and 12” vinyl. Beck discreetly uploaded the song to his Youtube channel for all of the internet to listen to. This is the second occasion of Beck uploading new material to Youtube with the debut of the song “Defriended” in June. Rumors are that Beck is actually working on two new albums at the moment. One an acoustic album and the second one being a follow-up to his 2008 album Modern Guilt.

This is the first album in the 50-year history of the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band of entirely original music. Over the years the band has collaborated with the likes of The Black Keys, Dr. John, and My Morning Jacket, but the band has not lost sight of keeping New Orleans Jazz alive. The album was produced by Jim James of MMJ and he was able to capture the raw emotion and feeling behind the band’s original compositions.
