HAERTS–Brooklyn-based quintet by way of England, Germany, and the United States, and who just opened up for Fitz & the Tantrums for their New York and Boston dates–released a music video for their song “All the Days”.
The band consists of singer Nini Fabi, keyboardist Ben Bebert, guitarist Gerrett Lenner, bassist Derek McWilliams, and Jonathan Schmidt on drums. HAERTS’ first single, “Wings”, was produced in collaboration with Jean-Philip Grobler (St. Lucia) and immediately sparked music bloggers’ attention last year.
There is an aura of mystery surrounding this band because they’ve played a decent amount of shows, opened up for Atlas Genius and Shout Out Louds, yet they have released very little recorded music. Fortunately, their debut album is expected to drop later this year, which will finally give fans more tunes to jam to.
The magazine component of fashion retailer, Aritzia, liked the band so much that they produced the band’s second music video and provided the clothing and styling worn by the actors and actresses. The video was shot in a Los Angeles, Havana-inspired nightclub called La Descarga.
“We used the setting of a salsa dance hall to explore themes of partnership and shared history,” says director Bridget Palardy. Although HAERTS is far from salsa music, the seamless, rhythmic dancing partners perfectly with the atmospheric rock vibes in “All the Days”. To cast the dancers, Palardy and her sister went to various clubs in L.A that are known for their salsa nights and “found the most amazing, inspiring dancers.”
