On the Verge: Pickwick

At 4:15 PM each Tuesday, WERS brings you our On the Verge segment which highlights an artist we think is up-and-coming.

This weeks’ artist On The Verge, Pickwick, come all the way cross country from Seattle, Washington.  The group consists of members Garlen Disston, Garrett Parker, Michael Parker, Kory Kruckenberg, Cassady Lillston, and Alex Westcoat. The talented group blends soul and folk on their debut full length album, Can’t Talk Medicine.  Pickwick had previously self-released two EPs, Myths and Covers.  They released Covers earlier this year, and even enlisted Sharon Van Etten to sing on their cover of Richard Swift’s “Lady Luck.”  This song also appears on Can’t Talk Medicine.

The band even features a Grammy award winner.  Kruckenberg won the 2010 Grammy for Best Engineered Classical Album for Porter, Quincy: Complete Viola Works. He even gave Pickwick a nice little shout-out in his acceptance speech.

The group has a busy tour schedule ahead of them.  They have nearly thirty performances scheduled between now and October, and they’re all over the country.  Stops are scheduled everywhere from Wyoming, to Los Angeles, to Canada, and even back to Boston on September 24th for a show at the Sinclair.  Pickwick is playing with some incredible acts on the tour as well, including Neko Case and Black Joe Lewis for multiple dates.

Be sure to tune in today at 4:15 PM to hear Pickwick On The Verge!
