Throwback Thursday: Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood MacThis week for Throwback Thursday, WERS is playing a set of music from Fleetwood Mac in honor of their upcoming performance at the Comcast Center in Mansfield tomorrow, June 21st.

Fleetwood Mac are a British rock group formed around 1967 in London. Over the years the band has gone through so many line-up changes that the drummer, Mick Fleetwood is the only remaining original member of the band. Fleetwood Mac has had two very extremely popular periods of success during their career. The first was during the late 1960’s British blues surge in popularity when the band was led by guitarist Peter Green who left Fleetwood Mac in 1970. The second high point of success came the more pop oriented Fleetwood Mac from 1975-1987 featuring Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. The more pop-focused Fleetwood Mac released five albums from 1975-1987 including, Rumors, Mirage, and Fleetwood Mac. Rumors alone won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978, sold over 45 million copies making it one of the best-selling albums of all time, and even has gone Diamond in many countries. The band released their first new studio material in ten years this April of 2013 with an EP titled Extended Play. Along with this new EP Fleetwood Mac has been on tour for around two months now and do not plan on stopping anytime soon.

Celebrate Fleetwood Mac with us today at 5pm on 88.9 WERS.
