Born Elisabeth Corrin Maurus to an interior designer and a physician, Lissie had developed an early interest in music that lead her to perform in school theatre productions such as Annie (in which she played the title role). By the time she finished her studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Lissie had become a staple of the local music scene by opening for various musicians who came through the city. In 2008 her music caught the attention of Lenny Kravitz and impressed him so much he asked her to go on tour with him. Although things hadn’t really started rolling for her until she released her debut EP, Why You Runnin’, in 2009, and her full-length debut, Catching a Tiger, the following year. These releases were strong enough to earn Lissie the title of Paste Magazine‘s No. 1 Best New Solo Artist of 2010. Lissie also continued to build steam with well-received covers of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” and even Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness.”

Now Lissie has released an athemic new single titled “Shameless” off her as-of-yet untitled sophomore album due out in September. She has already started touring to support the upcoming release, and will be stopping by WERS this Wednesday, June 5, for an exclusive in-studio performance. Check out Lissie before she takes the stage at the Brighton Music Hall later that same day only on 88.9 WERS.
