Tonight, May 22nd: Yeasayer at The Sinclair
Brooklyn psych-poppers hit this relatively new venue tonight as they continue to promote 2012’s wonderful album The Fragrant World with the Converse Rubber Tracks tour in Cambridge. If you’re a fan of their work, this is the stage to see them on—intimate and fun, even late arrivers can finagle their way to the front to jam to “Ambling Alp.”
Tonight, May 22nd: Jeff the Brotherhood at Great Scott
Warning: going to a Jeff the Brotherhood show is a full body experience, one that demands you alternatively dance, thrash, and air guitar along with the band’s Jake and Jamin Orrall, whose constant tour loop has some fans hanging out with them on a personal basis. They’ve been building on their trippy garage sound since 2002 and hit their peak with 2012’s Hypnotic Nights after being signed to Jack White’s label, Third Man Records.
May 25th and 26th: Boston Calling at City Hall Plaza
Here it is, folks—the standard by which the Boston scene will be set as this (hopefully!) annual festival launches with big-time names like fun., The National, The Shins, Marina and the Diamonds, and Matt and Kim along with rising acts like Cults and Caspian. Everyone who’s anyone is going to be there, so start to get pumped!
Have a great week, everyone!
