Since reuniting in 2011, New Order has made a lot of news in the music world. Frontman Bernard Sumner performed a duet with Brandon Flowers during a recent concert, the band performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, they announced tour dates with Johnny Marr and SPIN called them one of the best things they saw at Coachella (which is saying a bet in this day and age).
Now, the band is making more news. They have recently announced that they are releasing a live album, titled Live at Bestival 2012, on July 8 in digital and CD formats. The 13-track set features songs from numerous eras of the band’s illustrious career; including a few Joy Division songs (“Isolation,” “Transmission,” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”). All the sales of the CD will benefit the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, a charity organization that offers “counseling, advice, information, and support services to young people aged 25 and under on [England’s] Isle of Wight” (according to the website).
New Order drummer, Stephen Morriss, told the NME, “We played at so many festivals in 2012, and our highlights were, without doubt, the last two in the U.K., Portmeirion and Bestival. This charity release is a special way to mark the Bestival experience, and we’re thrilled to be working with [organizers Rob and Josie da Bank] to raise money for such a worthy cause on the island. It’s great to give something back, and also to give such a brilliant crowd something to remember the show by. And if you weren’t there, buy the CD and enjoy the experience that way!”
They have a slew of 2013 tour dates, with the band coming through Boston on July 31st at Bank of America Pavillion.
