Happy Wednesday, concert-goers! Whether you’re passing through town for a graduation or two or are a permanent resident of the Boston scene, this week promises a bunch of terrific shows from new and established artists hoping to win you over with new material. Shall we take a look?
Tonight, May 15 – Vampire Weekend @ Agannis Arena
Ladies and gentlemen, the vampires have returned, with their just-released third album in tow. Modern Vampires of the City is a return to the sound that first made them famous with some high production twists, blending clever lyrics with a serious uptempo. These are guys who know how to get a party started while still keeping the class at an all-time high, and an arena show with their signature on it is not one to be missed.
Friday, May 17th – Iron and Wine @ Berklee Performance Center
The dreamy lyrics of Sam Beam have become famous under the pseudonym Iron and Wine, and are the perfect date night or speculative solo adventure. He’s currently promoting his new album Ghost on Ghost, and is packing the gorgeous Berklee Performance Center to kick off the weekend. If you can’t snag a ticket or simply can’t wait, he’ll be performing live on WERS earlier that day!
Friday, May 17th – Boy @ Cafe 939
A recent WERS Artist of the Week, Boy is a Swiss/German (female!) duo whose rising star hinges on catchy single “Little Numbers”. This is only their third month as a U.S. national touring act, so be sure to catch Boy while they’re still playing the smaller, more intimate downtown venues—they’ll be prancing through the arenas before you know it.
There you have it, music lovers! Another week of auditory satisfaction. We’ll see you next Wednesday!
