The Wild Feathers are a brand new band breaking onto the scene. Composed of Ricky Young, Taylor Burns, Joel King, Ben Jarvis, and Preston Wimberly, The Wild Feathers are quickly growing in popularity with folk and AAA fans. The band was formed approximately two and a half years ago when Wimberly joined forces with Burns, Young and King, who had already started a band.
So far, 2013 has been a huge year for the band. Earlier this year, they played at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. They’ve also played with one of their heroes, Bob Dylan, a couple times this year while on tour. This year also marks the arrival of their self-titled debut album, to be released by Warner Bros Records on August 6. They recorded the album with producer Jay Joyce (The Wallflowers, Emmylou Harris), and will promote it by going on touring with Ryan Bingham in June and Delta Rae in August.
You can discover the lead single from the upcoming album, “The Ceiling,” on WERS (There’s also an official music video which can be found online). The song brings an exciting twist of folk and rock, which can be easily compared to the Black Crowes at points.
This is certainly a young group on the rise and one to keep track of. Keep your ears open for our Artist of the Week, The Wild Feathers, on 88.9 WERS!
