On April 26 in 1980, Blondie hit No. 1 on the UK singles chart with the track “Call Me.” This was the group’s fourth single to hit the No. 1 slot in their long-lived career. “Call Me,” was featured in the Richard Gere movie American Gigolo which helped it go on to be the biggest selling single to date. The producer of the track, Giorgio Moroder, originally asked Stevie Nicks to help compose the track but she unfortunately declined.
Two years later in 1982, British singer-songwriter and best selling artist Rod Stewart was robbed at gunpoint. Stewart was stopped on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles and robbed of his $50,000 Porsche at the time.
Later on in 1988, Mick Jagger appeared in federal court in White Plains, New York on account of a copyright infringement case brought by reggae singer Patrick Alley. Alley at the time, claimed that Jagger plagiarized his own song, “Just Another Night.” Alley was claiming $7m in profits from the single. At the end of a rigorous week-long trial, Jagger won the case.
