“Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful,” sensuous singer Lana Del Rey sings in her brand new track, “Young & Beautiful”. The soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming adaptation of The Great Gatsby will include the lush Lana Del Rey ballad as the first single from the compilation. In recent weeks, the trailer for The Great Gatsby has been quite the hot commodity, with it featuring brand new songs from some of the greatest musicians of our time.
Known for her vintage flair and cinematic presentation, “Young & Beautiful” is a whimsical representation of Lana Del Rey’s talents. The song speaks about love, aging and the insecurity it brings, mixed with her “rock’n’roll” days and globe-travelling ways apart from her true love. Although the lyrics are simply striking on their own, the orchestral sounds and styling truly make the song complete.
The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which was executively produced by hip-hop legend Jay-Z, is due out on May 7, just three days before the film hits the big screen. The compilation is currently available for pre-order, along with Del Rey’s single obtainable for purchase now in select countries. “ Young & Beautiful” will tie over listeners until the soundtrack is released in full with songs from artists like Florence + the Machine, Beyoncé, Gotye, and more.
