On the Verge: Christian McNeill

At 4:15 PM each Tuesday, WERS brings you our On The Verge segment which highlights an artist we think is up-and-coming.

This week’s artist On The Verge is the local rock and soul act Christian McNeill and Sea Monsters. Front man Christian McNeill, who is referred to on the band’s Facebook page as, “an Irish force of rock and soul reckoning” is a two time winner of the “male vocalist of the year” title in the Boston Music Awards for 2011 and 2012. Joining McNeill as Sea Monsters are Thomas Arey on drums, Duke Levine and Lyle Brewer on electric guitar, Scott Aruda on trumpet, John Aruda on tenor sax, Benjamin Zecker on piano, and Mike Miksis on bass.

The group formed in 2007 at first just meeting up to play live shows but began recording tracks written primarily by McNeill. They have also collaborated with other staple Boston acts such as Tim Gearan and Jesse Dee. The debut full-length record from Christian McNeill & Sea Monsters, Everything’s Up For Grabs, was released in January of this year.

Tune in this Tuesday at 4:15 pm to hear an exclusive in-studio performance and interview from the Boston band, Christian McNeill and Sea Monsters only here on 88.9 WERS.
