The Mountain Goats Announce Tour

mountaingoats1The Mountain Goats have released tour dates for their TUTTLINGEN WARRIORS TOUR 2013, but this time around, there will only be two members on stage. Jon Wurster, originally the drummer of Superchunk, joined John Daniel and Peter Hughes in 2007, but Daniel explained through the band’s site, that Wurster will not be able to make the tour.

In the past, the band has been known for various collaborations with various genres of musicians, but this tour will give them a chance to get in touch with their roots as a duo and reach some longing fans.

“We’re hitting several places we haven’t been before and some we haven’t managed to get back to in years (what’s up Hoboken), and in case you missed it in the avalanche of clauses above: all dates are all-ages. All of them. Hell yes, I say, it’s about time, sorry it took so long,” Daniel said.

Daniel also took advantage of the opportunity to reminisce about the history of The Mountain Goats as a duo.

“It was really cool: the duo set was how we lived from 2001-2007. On the Transcendental Youth tour last year we started structuring the set for a little duo space on either side of a solo section in the middle, playing “It Froze Me” and sometimes “Jenny” with just me and Peter on one side of the set-break and “Ezekiel 7 and the Permanent Efficacy of Grace” with just me and Wurster on the other”.

Now, the original duo of Daniel and Hughes can be heard on dates spanning this summer, including Newport Folk Festival.
