Countless videos were coming out the wazoo today, including one from one of my absolute favorite bands, MS MR. The electro pop duo hailing from Brooklyn released the official music video for their single, “Hurricane” earlier today. While the song has a previous video compiled of wicked cool Tumblr images, the song needed a video to go hand in hand with the hypnotic lyrics.
Through the bone-chilling vocals of Lizzy Plapinger and flawless sound and production skills from Max Hershenow, their songs always tend to give off a vibe as if taking place in another dimension, paired with lyrics to fit that ambiance.
Within the first seconds of clicking play, the video for “Hurricane” is definitely one that will raise some eyebrows… but in a good way. The video tells a tale of a small town full of strange bodies including Plapinger and Hershenow covered in Avatar-like body paint throughout the entire four-minute story. A girl melting like ice creams, a fellow oozing green colored slime, a dismembered hand, and other creatures also accompany the video. With the duo singing the lyrics, “Welcome to the inner workings of my mind,” you definitely get a sense of those workings once the video hits its end.
After releasing their EP entitled, Candy Bar Creep Show back in back in September, new songs in between, and recently their song, “Bones” being featured in the new Game Of Thrones trailer with over 20 million hits, MS MR are definitely ones to keep an eye on. “Hurricane” is the first single off their new album Secondhand Rapture out May 14.
