Throwback Thursday

Rolling Stones 50 and CountingFor this week’s Throwback Thursday we are playing a set from The Rolling Stones, who just announced a new North American tour yesterday including a stop at the TD Garden in Boston on June 12!

The new dates are an extension of the Stones’ “50 Years…and Counting” shows late last year marking the band’s 50th anniversary. With surprise guest appearances from artists like Bruce Springsteen, the Black Keys, Florence Welch, and even Lady Gaga, the shows convinced many that the band was still in top shape and earned them the “Best Live Band” honor at the NME Awards in London. The Stones also commemorated their 50th anniversary with the release of GRRR!, a greatest hits collection including the new song “Doom And Gloom”, a documentary titled Crossfire Hurricane, and a book of band photos. Regarding the new shows, which the band had been teasing for months now, Keith Richards stated, “You kind of new that it was bound to happen.” Their North American tour will then be followed with a headlining set at the Glastonbury Festival and the band’s first performance at Hyde Park in London in 44 years.

Celebrate the Rolling Stones’ tour announcement with us today at 5PM at WERS!
