MUDHONEY, VANISHING POINT
The Seattle-based alternative quartet, Mudhoney has released their eighth studio album, Vanishing Point. The record marks their first release in five years, the previous album being The Lucky Ones in 2008. The band formed in 1988 after the break-up of the band Green River which featured Mudhoney vocalist Mark Arm and guitarist Steve Turner.
COLD WAR KIDS, DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS
Cold War Kids, the Californian indie-rock band, dropped their fourth full-length record, Dear Miss Lonelyhearts. This is their first album with Dann Gallucci (formerly of Modest Mouse) on guitar. Dear Miss Lonelyhearts was co-produced by Gallucci and Lars Stalfors who is known for working with Matt & Kim and The Mars Volta. The record features the single “Miracle Mile” which can be heard on 88.9 WERS.
Nomad, the second solo album from Omara “Bombino” Moctar has been released. Moctar is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Agadez, Niger. He is a member of the nomadic Tuareg people. He is also the subject of the documentary Agadez, The Music and the Rebellion. After the Tuareg rebellion in 1990, Moctar escaped to Algeria with his father and grandmother, it was there that he taught himself guitar. Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys produced the record.
