Word on the street is Ryan Adams has a new album on the way and fans should be excited because he’s recording with a band. According to Billboard, he’s been writing a bunch of new material with a full band and has teamed up with producer, Glyn Johns again (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles). Adams says that his new music will feature “more orchestral flourishes” than the last record, “Ashes & Fire”. On Tuesday night at Royal Albert Hall in London, he performed two new songs titled, “Where I Meet You In My Mind” and “In The Shadows” for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
For those who don’t know, Ryan Adams is an alternative country / rock singer, poet, author, jack-of-all-trades kind of man. He has 16 studio albums between both his solo career and work with the band The Cardinals.
Fans at Tuesday night’s show have said that he performed with a star-studded backing band, which is his first time doing so in almost four years.
If you’re a fan of his and can’t wait long enough for his new album, a special release on Record Store Day might cleanse your palette. Adams has teamed up with Leah Hennessey, lead vocalist of NYC manic-pop band Make Out, and Johnny T. Yerington to create an unexpected, yet awesome punk band. The trio, known as Pornography, will release a seven song 7” titled 7 Minutes In Heaven on April 20th. In true punk fashion, all songs are under a minute long.
When explaining the music writing process, Hennessey said, “we never give ourselves more than a few minutes to write the songs so we can’t really afford to censor ourselves or be less stupid.” Get excited, this will be a record you audiophiles will want in your collection.
