Touring KUT and Downtown Austin

KUTXDay 2 of SXSW was an interesting one. After a morning of panels and free lunches we got to have some great conversations about the current state of radio. We toured the KUT station on the University of Texas and got insight on how other stations run. The facilities were great and it inspired me to be better at my job.

After the KUT tour, we took in the atmosphere of SXSW. While walking down 6th street we got to see a plethora of performing bands at bars, makeshift stages, and in the street. It was a music lovers paradise. It really had something for everyone.

Later that night, there were so many shows it was hard to choose from. I got to see a set from Atlanta-based rapper Dee-1. He is a conscious rapper and did a great job building his fan base with his set. I also peeked in on a set from Pusha T and Macklemore at the MTVu stage. Two days in and I already don’t want to leave. I can’t wait to see what Day 3 holds.
