On the Verge: Husky

This week’s artist On The Verge is the Australian indie-folk  band Husky who base themselves out of Melbourne. The four piece band is made up of Husky Gawenda, Luke Collins, Evan Tweedie and Gideon Preiss and they have opened for such acts as Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Devendra Banhart, The Shins, Gotye, and Noah and The Whale among others. Husky  signed to Sub Pop records in 2011 and served as the first Australian band to be signed to the Seattle record label.

Husky’s debut full-length album, Forever So was released in July of 2012 and was mixed by Noah Georgeson who is known for working with artists including but not limited to Charlotte Gainsbourg, Devandra Banhart, Ben Lee, Mason Jennings, and The Strokes. Included on Forever So is the track “History’s Door” which won the Triple J Unearthed talent contest. The contest serves  to find undiscovered talent in the regions of Austrailia.
