Phoenix New Music Video

Phoenix Entertainment VideoA couple of weeks ago Phoenix released a song titled “Entertainment” which is the first single off of their upcoming album Bankrupt! A few days ago Phoenix released a music video for this newly released song.

The video was directed by Patrick Daughters who most notably did “1234” by Feist and has also worked with the likes of Bright Eyes, Depeche Mode, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The music video is set somewhere in Asia and has multiple story lines following different characters. The same set of four or five actors live out varying love stories through different times and places.

The beginning melody seems to have Chinese influence so Asia was a good choice to set the video. Even though the video is around four minutes, the band is not shown once expect of a brief moment where the band is depicted on a poster. Instead, the different characters like a pop star and a geisha are seen singing the lyrics to the song. Samurai, mobsters, cops, fight scenes, romance, the music video for “Entertainment” seems to have it all.

The video is difficult to describe so you have to see it for yourself. Phoenix will be kicking off an international tour March 28th in Vancouver B.C. and will also be one of the headlining acts for this years Coachella Music Festival. Bankrupt! is set to be released on April 23rd.
