Hey, concert-goers! Finally recovered from the massive heart attack the Newport and Boston Calling lineups gave you? Cool! We’ve still got a few more weeks of winter to plow through (groundhogs are inaccurate meteorologists), so here’s a few great shows to keep you sane in the meantime.
Thursday, March 7th: Animal Collective at House of Blues
Like Phoenix and Smith Westerns, Animal Collective is an indie group that is bouncing back in a major way for 2013 with their album Centipede Hz, released late last year. There’s no telling what you’re in for at an AC show—they have a way of bringing out the weird in their audience as much as in themselves, so prepare for some lights, synth, and self-discovery at the House of Blues this Thursday.
Friday, March 8th: The Disappointments at Precinct
Missouri natives and self-described “drunk rockers” The Disappointments will be drunk rocking Precinct this Friday night, and are sure to bring down the house with their still-undiscovered sound. They keep the energy high and the beer flowing, so their sure not the be a “disappointment”…okay, never mind.
Saturday, March 9th: WERS Presents: Reykjavik Calling
For the second year running, WERS is bringing the best in Boston and Iceland together for the face-melting event of the winter season, and this year is better than ever. Boston artists Kris Delmhorst and the Adam Ezra Band will be playing alongside Icelandic acts Soley and Asgeir Trausti, making this one of the most unique multicultural events of the year. Did we mention it’s free? Attendance is more or less mandatory.
There you have it, concert lovers—Boston never disappoints!
