Back in 2009 with the release of her Gold-selling album, Hands, Victoria Hesketh became one of the most talked about new artists to surface throughout music. If this name sounds a little foreign to you, you may know her as Little Boots. The name Little Boots was given to Hesketh as a nickname by a friend in reference to her “unusually small feet,” but clearly Little Boots is known for more than just her abnormally little limbs.
After the dance-pop songstress began her road to fame after her first album hit the charts, Little Boots is preparing to release her highly anticipated sophomore album entitled, Nocturnes, which is set to be released May 6. Nocturnes took a new turn for Little Boots with being released on her newly launched On Repeat Records; as well as, having contributions from Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and Hercules and Love Affair’s Andy Butler, both without a doubt contributing to the vibe of the record.
According to Little Boots, Nocturnes is “an album indebted to the night.” With spending the past few years DJing sets all over the country, it is evident that Little Boots’ love for futuristic electronics and synths will be present in the new album.
Little Boots stated in an interview that the album “definitely feels more representative of me of an artist, at least now in 2012. It’s less 80s synth pop influenced, it’s quite an upbeat album, which I think has stemmed from the fact I have been DJing a lot, and listening to a lot of dance music.” After previewing the new album on iTunes, it’s truly a sonic experience from beginning to end.
The heavy beat and synth infused track “Shake” was released back in 2011 as a the first single from Nocturnes, and Little Boots has recently released the newest from the album, “Motorway”. The song starts with Hesketh’s vocals over short pulsating percussive beats and builds as the song goes on. “Motorway” is a great way to keep fans held over until the release of the album in its entirety!
