Welcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS. Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.
PISSED JEANS, HONEYS
The Pennsylvania-based noise-rock band, Pissed Jeans, have released their fourth full-length album, Honeys. The record was produced by the British Grammy Nominee, Alex Newport. Newport is known for working with artists such as Two Gallants, Bloc Party, The Melvins, City and Colour, The Mountain Goats, and Death Cab For Cutie among others. Honeys marks the first full-length release from Pissed Jeans since King of Jeans in 2009. They also have three extended-plays; Throbbing Organ/Night Minutes (2004), Don’t Need To Smoke To Make Myself Disappear/Love Clown (2006) and, most recently, 2010’s Sam Kinison Woman/ The L Word.
NATALY DAWN, HOW I KNEW HER
Nataly Dawn, of the duo Pomplamoose, has released her first-ever solo record, How I Knew Her. The album is autobiographical and was funded by Kickstarter Donations. Jack Conte, the other half of Pomplamoose produced the album for her. Dawn, though American by birth, went to high school in France and Belgium as her parents were missionaries there. She and Conte formed Pomplamoose at Stanford University and began to gain notoriety on Youtube by covering hit pop songs such as Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”. Dawn has released solo tracks on Itunes but How I Knew Her marks her first full-length solo album.
