Welcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS. Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.
FRIGHTENED RABBIT: PEDESTRIAN VERSE
Scott Hutchison and the guys in Frightened Rabbit have released their fourth full-length album, Pedestrian Verse. The record is a direct follow-up to the Scottish band’s recent EP State Hospital which dropped in September. Pedestrian Verse features the single, “The Woodpile”.
JIM JAMES: REGIONS OF LIGHT AND SOUND OF GOD
My Morning Jacket front man, Jim James, dropped his first full-length solo record Regions of Light and Sound of God. James says that the album was inspired by the 1929 graphic novel God’s Man by Lynd Ward.
EELS: WONDERFUL, GLORIOUS
Indie rock band, Eels, led by Mark Oliver Everett have released their tenth studio album, Wonderful, Glorious. The band will be touring worldwide in support of the new record. Eels, who have been featured on the soundtracks to such movies as Shrek, Scream 2, Charlie Bartlett, Hot Fuzz, and American Beauty have not released an album since 2010’s Tomorrow Morning.
THAO & THE GET DOWN STAY DOWN: WE THE COMMON
San Francisco-based indie rock band, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down are back with their fourth record, We The Common. The album was produced by John Congleton of The Paper Chase, and it features the harpist and singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom.
