We get it, concertgoers. It’s hot, then it’s cold, then the T is shut down five minutes before you need to be at work and life has hit its all-time low. But your depression-numbed brain has forgotten about something, friends, and we’d be insulted if you weren’t all so cute. It’s the healing power of life music, of course, and it’s alive and thriving even in the single digit weather. Let’s check out this week’s lineup:
Wednesday, Paradise Rock Club — Ellie Goulding
WERS caught wind of Ellie Goulding back in 2011, when Lights was but a wee hit waiting to happen and she had yet to hit it big in the States. Those days are over as she prepares to hit the House of Blues to continue to promoting her second album Halcyon. Her new and old material is fabulous, but those attending should look most forward to her fabulous cover of Elton John’s “Your Song”!
Thursday, Paradise Rock Club – Walk the Moon
Cincinnati indie darlings Walk the Moon have a classic, wholesome origin story—four guys meet in college, compose an anthem (“Anna Sun”), and take over the world. If you’re down with their feel-good vibes and indie youth sound, the Paradise is the place to be this Thursday night as the band promotes their self-titled debut. The album Walk the Moon is also WERS’s album of the month for January!
Saturday, Paradise Rock Club — Ra Ra Riot
Syracuse University natives Ra Ra Riot are making the rounds this winter with their most ambitious album yet, and the first full-length release since 2010. They’re currently touring with their third album Beta Love, and are traveling with one less– their departure of their cellist, Alexandra Lawn, leaves the band airy and one person lighter.
There you have it, concert-lovers! Someone’s gotta turn up the heat in Boston. Till next week!
