Artist of the Week: Walk the Moon

A pop driven, chorus chanting, synthesized foursome, Walk the Moon is the biggest thing to come out of Ohio in 2012 other than steel and agriculture. Originally forming in 2008 and taking their name from the Police song “Walking on the Moon” the band did not officially come together with its current members until 2010.

Still in their infancy the band has already released a major hit, doing so independently as well with the song “Anna Sun”. Derived from feelings of being a youth and the need to maintain a kind of innocence while faced with the challenges of growing up “Anna Sun” has clearly spoken to a large audience. The song was picked up by major radio stations across the country and the band soon signed with RCA records. The track has been featured in various television shows as their fame continues to rise.

With three albums already under their belt Walk the Moon has appeared playing with Panic! At The Disco, Young the Giant, Weezer, Grouplove and Local Natives. They’ve been a featured act at Bonaroo, Lollapalooza, Last Call with Carson Daily and Conan. Clearly the people have spoken and they’re calling for more infectious pop beats and electric rock. In 2 quick years Walk the Moon has gotten us to dance, chant and sing along, and hopefully 2013 will bring us much much more.

Looking for more Walk the Moon? Currently they are on tour and will be playing the Paradise Rock Club on January 24th.
