New Releases Tuesday

Welcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS.  Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.

Only the second EP from the band, this is their first self-released recording since their split with their label in October.  This 5-track collection was made right after the tour promoting their last full length, 2011′s Neighborhoods.  Travis Barker brought the idea to the band around that time and, in what is the quintessential response that you’d expect from Blink 182, Tom DeLonge said, “Dude, we should do that!”  And that they did.  The band members were unsatisfied with the way that Neighborhoods was recorded – separate studios and communicating through email – and so set out to record in the same room and actually, you know, see each other this time around.  They’re pleased with the results: “It was great, ideas falling everywhere,” said Mark Hoppus.

At this point in the year, there’s not a whole lot being released as the… bear that is the music industry is going into hibernation.  It’s not a perfect analogy.
