Tonight, December 12 – Concrete Blonde @ The Sinclair
Initially springing up in the ’80’s, reviving in 00’s, and now in the new decade, Los Angeles alt band Concrete Blonde has been kicking ass for over twenty-five years, and are in town to play hits old and new, and of course a little “Joey”. If you’re not sold on that alone, consider that Michael Stipe named them– with that sort of endorsement, how can you go wrong?
Tonight, December 12 – Of Montreal @ The Paradise
Okay, stay with me– Of Montreal is from Athens, Georgia, but don’t let that lie keep you from an amazing show. They’re going around promoting their latest drop Paralytic Stalks, which rivals 2005’s The Sunlandic Twins in terms of awesome. What’s more, their electro-pop sound makes for a fabulous live set-up and sound.
Thursday, December 13 – Nada Surf @ The Paradise
Bring on more alt rock! NYC group Nada Surf takes their time releasing new material, but it’s always worth the wait– their current release The Stars Are Indifferent to Their Astronomy is excellent, and audience members can look forward to hearing electric and acoustic versions of songs new and old.
There it is, WERS listeners! Come back next week for your last-ditch options at ditching that god-awful office party.
