Mixtape Mayhem: Soul Tape 2

Fabulous celebrated Thanksgiving by releasing the new installment to the Soul Tape series. Soul Tape 2 features heavy soul samples and many guest appearances from J. Cole, Pusha T, Cassie, Joe Budden, Trey Songz, Teyana Taylor, Wale, and Troy Ave. Fab wasn’t dropped a full length album since 2009 and this mixtape should hold fans over until the forthcoming Loso’s Way 2 in 2013. Until his sixth solo album, Fab continues developing his unique style and catalog on Soul Tape 2.The record starts out with Fab once again rapper over Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit C instrumental”. The first six tracks are commendable and allow us into his life, his recent struggles and address issues that arose on recent reality shows. “Louis Vuitton” featuring J.Cole, showcases Fab singing about what all females want. J.Cole destroys the song by bring his fast and witty cadence. Fab rappers over Maybach Music Group hit single “Diced Pineapples” with Cassie singing a remix verse of the original hook. A good remix and a highlight track on the record. Joe Budden steals the show with his appearance along with Teyana Taylor on “Want You Back.” His uses of B.I.G’s classic line “she took d**k from a player from the New York Knicks” is a great line on a good track. Just blaze once again proves his greatness by sampling Dionne Warwick’s 1973 “You’re Gonna Need Me.” Soul Tape 2 is a great mixtape and will be in rotation until Loso’s Way 2.
