Happy false spring, concert-goers! This week’s proving to be the calm before what’s sure to be a rough winter, so why not get out and see all the music you can before you shut yourself in for the season? This week’s lineup will make it well worth it.
Thursday, December 6 – Conor Oberst @ Orpheum Theatre
As a girl who was the token, eyeliner-ridden Bright Eyes fan through high school, I couldn’t be more excited for this show. Conor Oberst kicked off his insanely successful indie career with Bright Eyes, then moving to other projects including The Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, and the solo act he’s currently touring with. Expect stuff to get experimental, weird, and little introspective.
Sunday, December 9 – Jimmy Cliff @ TD Garden
The legends just keep on rolling through the Garden this autumn, and reggae legend is bringing over forty years in the business with him this Sunday. He’s currently touring in support of his thirtieth studio album Rebirth, bringing a more sophisticated reggae/ska sound with the same exuberance we all love “The Harder They Come” for.
Sunday, December 9 – Japandroids @ The Paradise
Vancouver duo Japandroids first got some serious attention in 2009 with their first studio release, and have been enjoying a steady stream of tour dates since the release of this year’s Celebration Rock. This is the show for you if you’re up for a little folk-electric blend, and a lot of energy. Sounds like a good recipe to me.
Happy listening, concert fans, and let us know what you think of the shows you’re seeing right here!
